Always greet everyone with a smile they said. A genuine smile is the best nonverbal form of communication they said. But how should one smile with yellow teeth? They never said.

Despite being yellow in colour, yellow teeth have become more like a black spot on the face of our personality. Though there may be many reasons for having yellow teeth like excessive fluorine in water, poor dental hygiene, excessive intake of tea or coffee, smoking etc, there is no denying fact that they are absolutely unwanted.

Regular dental check-ups do help in maintaining a healthy set of tooth but it’s unlikely that anyone would spare some time out of their busy schedules for such check-ups. To help you get rid of those 32 yellow light bulbs, here are a few home remedies that would turn those gold-plated looking teeth into pearly whites-

Apples have a crunchy texture that act as scrubbers. They are natural toothbrushes- of course, ones that cannot and should not replace the regular ones. The skin of the apples is rich in fibres that scrub your gums, teeth and tongue. They whiten your teeth and also get rid of bad breath. It’s safe to say that- an apple a day keeps not only the doctor but also the dentist away!

Use: Eat one or two apple a day, chew it well so that the acidic nature and the fibre rich skin do their work on your teeth.

Precaution: Most of the dentists claim that the acidic nature and sweetness of the apples may after the teeth. Hence, it is advisable to brush your teeth after half an hour of consuming an apple.

2. Strawberries-

Strawberries just like apples have the capability to whiten our teeth. They contain malic acid which removes the yellow stains slowly but effectively. They also have special fibres that eliminate bacteria from the mouth.

Use: Wash a very ripe strawberry thoroughly and cut it into half. Rub the strawberry on your teeth slowly. Brush after half an hour.

Precaution: The strawberries are rich in citric acid that damages the enamel of teeth in the long run. Hence it is advisable to brush your teeth after the above process.

That white substance that hides itself among other ingredients in your kitchen can actually brighten your teeth. Baking soda, also known as sodium bicarbonate, is a mild abrasive agent that not only removes the yellow stains but also prevents further discoloration of your teeth.
